Doors Opening Wide

Doors Opening Wide

I linger
Beneath Your gaze
Your hands out-
Stretched to mine
Inviting my down-
Turned face up

You remind me
Of Your Promise
That You chose me
Before the foundation
Of the world to be
Holy and blameless

In Your loving
Sight, I lift my gaze
Suddenly realizing
You're not ashamed
Of this: my wounds
You don't look away

You walk towards
In the eyes of
Those I'm tending to
You're tending
With oil and wine
To wounds long hid

As her eyes light up
You flood my own
As she tells her story
You tell my own
As she bears her wounds
You touch my own

And I realize
In each seeking and
Prodigal heart I serve
I'm finding You
Opening doors
To fellowship

With You, my wounds
Are cleansed, balmed
'n bound up through
Every visit, I see
The stories Your
Scars are healing

I now understand
Why You waited
Till now, even as
I longed for rescue
You waited for this:
To plunge me deeper

Into mercy
Your grace
Multiplied in
Seeking and finding
You: in the faces
Before me

My past redeemed
Not in isolation
We're in this together
Outside the camp
Walking, I find
Your church in
Doors opening wide

The Letter to Philadelphia

“Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia:

“The Holy One, the True One, the One who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and closes and no one opens says: I know your works. Because you have limited strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name, look, I have placed before you an open door that no one is able to close. Take note! I will make those from the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews and are not, but are lying—note this—I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and they will know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come over the whole world to test those who live on the earth. 11 I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have, so that no one takes your crown. 12 The victor: I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of My God, and he will never go out again. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God—the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God—and My new name.

13 “Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.

    1. He is such a tender and Good Shepherd, isn’t He? I can see how that resonates, as I recall what you shared recently about your train story. Redemption is continually flowing from His throne, isn’t it? To see all through His eyes is so gobsmackingly beautiful.
